What does it have? The first thing that you will notice about Samsung galaxy S4 is the processor. Gone are the days when your smart phones were powered with dual core processor. S4 is powered with 1.9 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor. This makes the S4 one of the fastest android phones. Add this with 4.2.2 android system the latest upgrade; it makes this phone incredibly fast. Another noticeable advantage is the removable battery, therefore no going out of power when you need to recharge the phone. In addition, some of the features of the phone like air view and air gesture are not just luxury like many other features in smart phones. Another notable feature is the multi-window split-screen, which enables you to multi task.
What does it not have?
S4 has not been yet able to answer the battery problem, which most smart phones have. Moreover, the internal memory of 9GB against its competitors is not enough, unless you have 64GB micro SD card. The display of S4 is dimmer than the previous smart phoneS2 and S3. In addition, the design is not that appreciated by consumers because of the plastic body. One thing that can discourage consumers the most from going for S4 is the price. It is probably the most expensive android phone in the market.
What are other options? The biggest competitors of Samsung galaxy S4 are the IPHONE, HTC and SONY EXPERIA Z. Price wise, S4 is more expensive than the others except IPHONE. The biggest difference between S4 and HTC ONE is that while S4 has a micro SD slot that can expand the memory up to 64 GB, HTC ONE does not have any micro SD slot. Hence has to rely on internal memory only. As for IPHONE, one of the notable differences is the processor. While S4 has a quad core processor, IPHONE has a dual core processor. However, the slimmer design and better battery life gives an edge to the Apple juggernaut. There is not much of a difference between Samsung S4 and Sony Experia Z. In fact, Sony Xperia Z comes with new water resistance technology, which S4 does not have. However, the reputation of Samsung in smart phones makes it easier for S4.
If you want a phone, that is sleek, light and fast then, S4 might be a good option. However, if you already own a S2 or S3 then upgrading to S4 might not be so appealing. Samsung has always been positioned as a cheaper option to the Apple Juggernaut. However, with S4 the Korean company seems to be making its own statement.
